Hi Carol,

Thank you for your message. B.C. Schizophrenia Society has support groups for families across B.C. We can also connect you with one of our local Regional Educators to provide you with more direct one-on-one support. I would suggest emailing Melissa at nelson@bcss.org or giving her a call at 1-888-888-0029 and you can be transferred to her directly.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thank you,
Jean.

I am the mother of a 30 year old son who is Bipolar. He lives on his own but has major life struggles. My question is, how much should I be doing for him? He is managing and wants to be able to make it on his own but he just can't get things done. For example he has been working for a few years how which is great however, he has not done his taxes for 3-4 years. I have offered to do them for him but he doesn't want me to. I worry because he is legally supposed to do his taxes... he procrastinates a lot. There are other things to that he just never gets done, also he lives on his own but his place is a mess. Should I be going in to clean it once in a while? I feel like if I leave him to his own devices he just doesn't get things done but I don't want to step in if that is going to make things worse for him.
Thanks.

Hi Animallover,

I've forwarded your question on to one of our Regional Educators in the Fraser Region, her name is Shelley and she should be responding to you shortly.

Thank you for reaching out.
Jean.
